Quality
Architecture that holds, and decisions others can follow – rather than short-term shortcuts.
About me
I am Jan Marco Schreier, a freelance IT architect and transformation consultant with over 20 years of experience in software development, software architecture, DevOps and technical consulting.
My focus is modernising business-critical software systems that have grown over many years. I combine architecture work, automation and hands-on technical implementation with technical coaching. What comes out of it is not just concepts but solid technical foundations – and teams that can carry the solutions forward themselves.
I have worked as a Cloud and Software Architect, Principal IT Consultant, Lead DevOps Engineer, Technical Coach and Product Owner, among other roles. These different perspectives help me bring technical, organisational and business requirements together and develop practical solutions.
In my daily work I use AI-assisted and agentic tools productively – for analysis, implementation, refactoring, documentation and quality assurance. The review, both on the substance and on the technical side, expressly stays with me: I work human-in-the-loop, check results against the architecture and automate quality assurance rather than trusting the tools blindly. I have built and proven this way of working in an application of my own – including connecting existing systems through custom MCP servers.
Architecture that holds, and decisions others can follow – rather than short-term shortcuts.
I take technical responsibility – from the analysis right through to building it myself.
Solutions that fit the context, the budget and the people – not method dogma.
I work so that the knowledge stays in the team and the changes hold after the project ends.
Exchanging ideas with peers and passing on knowledge matter to me – in projects as much as in the regional tech community.
