Modernise business-critical systems – and make them AI-ready

I modernise business-critical software systems that have grown over many years: better architecture, faster and more dependable delivery, ready for AI to be added in a controlled way.

“AI-ready” here means evolving architecture, interfaces, data and development processes to the point where AI capabilities can be added in a controlled and traceable way – right up to running models on your own infrastructure. What it does not mean is training your own models.

Customer value

Impact on three levels

Speed

Improving how you develop and ship, extending CI/CD, cutting lead times and getting teams moving faster.

Quality

Improving maintainability, testability and extensibility, paying down technical debt in a controlled way and lowering the risk in business-critical systems.

Future readiness

Bringing systems that have grown over years up to date, improving cloud and platform capability, and preparing systems for controlled AI integration.

Services

Where I most often help

Typical starting points

When working together makes sense

  • Existing systems now take a great deal of effort to extend.
  • Releases take too long, or go wrong too often.
  • Technical debt is holding back new requirements and products.
  • A cloud migration or platform modernisation is coming up.
  • In-house architecture or automation expertise is missing, or needs building up.
  • Systems need to be made ready for AI capabilities later on.

since 2026 · In-house product

Data-driven prospecting CRM with agentic AI workflows

Software architect, product owner, full-stack developer

Design and incremental development of my own application for researching, assessing and managing sales activities. At its heart is an agentic human-in-the-loop workflow: a validated intake turns unstructured input into checked business data, and existing systems connect through custom MCP servers. A working example of how AI capabilities are integrated into an architecture in a controlled and traceable way.

2025–2026 · Public sector & critical infrastructure

Code quality and Clean Architecture for an ML application

Cloud and Software Architect

Introducing code quality and architecture standards and monitoring that they are followed, technical coaching on Clean Code and Clean Architecture, and the incremental redesign of an ML-based application. Architecture documentation to arc42, plus building and running the CI/CD pipelines on OpenShift, including automated dependency and vulnerability checks.

2023–2025 · Renewable energy

Evolving an IoT platform

Product Owner (SAFe)

Further development of an IoT framework for the communication modules in inverters – including extended update capability for the devices, and support for repowering existing installations over older communication protocols.
